Founder, Ashu Ladha
Ashu brings over 40 years of experience in home furnishings as a manufacturer of textiles and home accents to Aloka and has served as a senior advisor to a number of home furnishings companies. He applies this experience to Aloka and a deep understanding of color application to textiles, plus 17 years as a board member at ABC Carpet and Home. Together with his son, Monik, and Amy Flurry he co-founded Aloka, giving shape and structure to this unique, one-of-a-kind business. He also enjoys creative, plant-based cooking and shares some of his own recipes in Aloka's newsletters.
Founder, Amy Flurry
For two decades Amy produced feature stories for top national publications before writing Recipe for Press, a go-to resource for entrepreneurs looking to position their brands through press opportunities. Amy and Ashu advised several home furnishings companies, assisting in line and range development and brand positioning before co-founding Aloka. Amy also co-founded Paper-Cut-Project, a company that conceives highly crafted installations in paper for fashion houses and brings this love of making unique products, made by hand, to the marketplace.

Aloka is a studio team in Athens, Georgia that sources and refines select vintage kanthas and makes pillows and fashion pieces from them. With our manufacturing partner in Hickory, NC, we also create furniture that defines a new mood-of-the-moment: high note craft.We are committed to seeking potential in existing resources and creating arrestingly beautiful, well-designed products for the home.
Aloka vintage kanthas are made from layers of saris that were hand-stitched some 60-80 years ago in India. We carefully select each for their material integrity and design and embrace the beauty and uniqueness in the material's patina that was created over time.
We enjoy longstanding relationships with our textile dealers in India and a partnership with a manufacturer and textile processing house in Jaipur where we wash, dye and soften our quilts.
