This cropped jacket was made from an antique hand-embroidered woven cotton Suzani, a textile traditionally used as wall hangings or in the yurts of nomadic people in Central Asia. An original aloka design, we prepared the vintage material with our signature multi-step shampoo and softening process.
In our Athens, Georgia-based studio, our designers created this jacket with a structured form-fitting bodice. Princess seams (front and back) and a high round neckline and long fitted sleeves make for a flattering fit. Partially unlined. Single hook and eye clasp at the neckline. Serge bound seams along the midline of the jacket interior that showcase the hand-stitching.
Each textile bares memories and marks of the hand and past. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind garment. We carefully curate and prepare these beautifully preserved textiles and embrace imperfections, mending and wear.
